West Hills Real Estate
Neighborhood Overview
Officially know as the Southwest Hills and also known as the Council Crest area, the West Hills neighborhood straddles Portland’s highest peak and features some of the grandest, most luxurious homes in the city. On a clear day, views from many of these opulent estates include the Cascade Mountains, Willamette Valley, downtown Portland and the lush expanse of forest that blankets the hills below.
The far Northeast section of West Hills is known as Portland Heights and, unlike typical West Hills neighborhoods, has its own small commercial district featuring upscale shopping and dining establishments.
Parks & Recreation
Rising over 1000 feet above sea level, Council Crest Park is Portland’s highest point and was home to an amusement park from 1907 to 1929. In addition to a 180 degree view of the surrounding city and Cascade Mountain range, Council Crest Park features miles of multi-use walking paths, picnic areas, playgrounds, a vista point and wedding site, off-leash areas for dogs and free Wi-Fi access. Governor’s Park is a pristine natural area open for exploration while trails leading the nationally recognized Washington Park and International Rose Test Gardens wind throughout the entire Southwest Hills neighborhood.
Real Estate
Famous for its palatial Colonial estates, Southwest Hills also features several modern and mid-century designs ranging from Craftsman and Bungalow to stilted custom built homes cantilevered over the hills below.
