Neighborhood Overview

With its garden like setting, pleasant streets and attractively kept homes lining quiet streets and cul-de-sacs, the Russell neighborhood has much to offer those seeking a suburban setting in an urban location.

Without being too close for comfort, this Northeast Portland area enjoys convenient access to Interstates 84 and 205, making commuting downtown or out to the many recreational areas of Southwest Washington and the Columbia River Gorge a breeze.

Parks & Recreation

Residents can often be found relaxing in the shade of the many towering fir trees that fill the John Luby Park, or taking advantage of the many amenities it has to offer, including a disabled access play area, picnic tables and walking paths. Thompson Park is also located in the Russell neighborhood and was named after David P. Thompson, a close friend of General Ulysses S. Grant in the late 1800s.

Most homes in the Russell neighborhood are pre-war to mid-century single and split-level structures that have been very well maintained by long term residents. Some new construction of Townhouses and custom homes can also be found along with a few older Farmhouses and Craftsmans.
