Portland Homes can be found with diverse architectural styles such as: Arts and Crafts, Bungalo, Craftsman, Modern, Victorian, Pacific Northwest, Ranch, Contemporary, and Estates.

The Arts and Crafts home is one of the more common styles in the city of Portland, originally rooted in the historic movement to revive handicrafts. These homes are typified by natural materials, extensive built-ins, and central fireplaces. They also had low-pitched roofs with wide eaves, exposed wood beams, and slightly more open layouts then victorian homes.

The Bungalo style was one of two architectural offshoot of the Arts & Crafts movement. Many examples of this architecture can be found on the East side of Portland. Common features included: one and a half stories, most of the living space on the ground floor, low pitched rectangular roofs, central living rooms, a lack of hallways, and some built-ins.

Craftsman was the other offshoot of the Arts & Crafts movement. Characterized by gable roofs with long eaves, natural materials, built-ins, exposed beams, large fireplaces, double hung windows with multiple lighs in the upper pane, and lots of attention to detail especially with the woodwork. Examples of this style can be found in many East Portland homes, and a few in the Southwest Hills.
